Understanding Gender Diversity in Children & Youth

This free, online course for parents, caregivers, and service providers is designed for those at the beginning of their learning journey, and introduces the fundamentals of understanding gender diversity and development in children and youth.

Across five self-guided training modules, participants will build foundational vocabulary, learn key concepts, examine relevant societal issues, and explore supportive policy and advocacy efforts.

About the Instructor

Cari Zall (she/her) is Clinical Faculty in the Secondary MAT Program at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling, and is Director of Lewis & Clark’s Trans Youth Support and Advocacy Certificate Program. Cari brings to her equity education practice over 25 years of legal and education experience. She has been a secondary and post-secondary educator for over 20 years. She has been a curriculum designer and faculty administrator for a national online high school dropout recovery program and has experience in advocacy, providing professional development, and conflict resolution/mediation work.

She is also the proud mom of a trans young adult and bonus mom to four other trans young adults, and her experience supporting them in the various stages of their growth and development informs her work with TransActive at Lewis & Clark.
