Lewis & Clark faculty and the Graduate Admissions Committee practice a holistic approach to admissions. Admission Requirements for All Programs
Application Fee
A $50 nonrefundable application fee is required. The fee is payable with a credit card or electronic check. Application fee waivers are available for Lewis & Clark alumni, current students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, and participants in service programs.
Resume
A current professional resume listing positions, prior education, awards, classroom experience, and volunteer activities.
Transcripts
One official transcript must be submitted from each post-secondary institution attended regardless of the length of study or the number of courses taken. This includes all college-level credit earned while in high school or while participating in study abroad programs.

Counseling and Therapy Admissions Process and Requirements
Lewis & Clark Graduate School counseling and therapy students learn to foster effective helping relationships and to create a wide range of interventions suitable for individuals, families, groups, and communities. Through the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center, they also offer direct service to the community during their internship experience.

The Art Therapy program has two prerequisites:
- Coursework (studio art: 18 semester credits and psychology: 12 semester credits)

Most applicants hold degrees in psychology, family and human development, or related fields; however, applicants with other backgrounds will be considered. Applicants who do not have at least 12 semester units of prior coursework related to human behavior may be required to add additional courses to their program of study.

The Eating Disorders Certificate program is appropriate for:
- Students currently enrolled or admitted to one of the following Lewis & Clark Counseling, Therapy, and School Psychology programs: Art Therapy; Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy; Professional Mental Health Counseling; Professional Mental Health Counseling—Addictions; or School Psychology. Students in the School Counseling program are also eligible.
- Alumni of Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling counseling programs.
- Professionals with prior experience in the mental health, addictions, nutrition, medical, or counseling fields. Must have a master’s degree or be currently enrolled in a graduate program. Those without a master’s degree must be working in an eating disorders facility or providing direct care to clients with eating disorders.
- Master’s level graduates with comparable counseling or related prerequisites from a regionally accredited program.
- Current graduate students undertaking comparable counseling or related degree programs at other regionally accredited institutions.

Applicants must have a graduate level mental health or counseling background. The program is appropriate for:

This certificate provides comprehensive graduate continuing education coursework specific to understanding the scope of gender diversity, the intersectional challenges faced, and the need for educators and other professionals working in the youth-serving roles to be both allies and advocates for the elimination of arbitrary and destructive gender role stereotypes.

School Psychology
At Lewis & Clark, students benefit from rigorous training that takes place in the heart of the thriving city of Portland, Oregon. And, because we offer the only EdS degree program in Oregon with national approval from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), graduates are able to find work both inside and outside of the state.

To align with national-level (NASP) and state-level (TSPC) standards for the recruitment and admission of school psychology candidates, Lewis & Clark requires that each candidate has experience working with youth in educational or social agencies. In addition, your academic preparation should include coursework in human development, education, and psychology.
In addition to the standard Lewis & Clark Graduate School application requirements, the Educational Specialist in School Psychology With Preliminary License Program application requires:

This program does not require the GRE for admission.
Higher Education Student Affairs
Available in a full-time/two-year or part-time/three-year format, our Master’s in Higher Education Student Affairs Program focuses on the ways that learning and development occur in and outside the classroom on a college campus. Graduates of our program will be prepared to serve as coordinators, assistant directors, and directors in a wide range of areas related to student affairs administration.
For students who already hold a master’s degree, we also offer a doctoral degree in Higher Education Student Affairs.
