Liv Craine is a multimedia artist and an emerging art therapist. They are currently working at a local Domestic Violence Center for their internship. This body of work is representative of their journey. Traditionally Liv uses oil paint for their most recent works, but throughout their time in the internship they have expanded and newly dived into acrylic paint, fiber arts, clay, and traditional drawing. Liv continues to use art as a way to express, conceptualize, contain, develop, and understand themselves and the world around us, and how to impact it.
Artist Statement
These pieces reflect the transformation and ongoing movement through my own identity as an art therapist, and as a person. The growth and trials of understanding the human experience in a room, has naturally made parts of my own perception of therapy change. The forest is indicative of the phenomenological nature of the therapeutic relationship. The figure’s evolvement into a form is a metaphor I have yet to understand and I am sure throughout my career I will continue to investigate its meaning to me. The forests created move through different times of day, and in conjunction to the change of the forms, this portrays the journey I go on with my clients.
