Artist Bio

I approach my work with a person-centered, strengths-based perspective, inspired by the resilience and stories of the youth I work with as an intern at the Washington County Juvenile Facility at Harkins House. Using broken and discarded glass, I reflect themes of transformation and growth, honoring the beauty and strength found in rebuilding and redefining narratives.

Artist Statement

Title: Equilibrium

This kinetic glass mobile embodies the intricate balance of becoming an art therapist, a process that requires constant reflection, adaptation, and growth. By incorporating found glass objects, I honor the narrative that each piece holds its own story—just as the individuals I work with bring unique perspectives and resilience to the therapeutic relationship. Suspended and in constant motion, these pieces symbolize the delicate equilibrium of the therapeutic relationship and the evolving understanding of my own identity as a budding art therapist. The movement of the mobile represents the dynamic nature of identity, constantly evolving through a balance of listening, reflection, and growth. Each element is carefully arranged to create harmony, representing my effort to navigate bias, honor intersectionality, and remain present in the therapeutic relationship. As some pieces broke during the creation of the mobile, it required me to adapt, adjust, and embrace the impermanence of the process. This struggle and flexibility reflects the resilience needed in both art therapy and life, where growth often comes from unexpected shifts and the ability to reframe challenges.

This mobile is not static; it breathes and shifts, much like the therapeutic relationship. It captures the tension and beauty of balancing empathy with self-awareness and highlights the ongoing journey of integrating the professional and the personal into a unified, authentic practice.
