I dedicate this piece to my mother. Thank you for everything mom. I am here today because of your love, support, and sacrifice.
Statement:
Amidst it all, I turn to my roots, finding nutrients and support from the solid earth beneath me. I look to the sky. The clouds are thick, and the rain is cold. I embrace the discomfort they bring, finding beauty in the ways they support my growth. I remember that I am part of a larger cycle, and I am always in process. The seasons will change, and the wind will shift.
I look around me at you, my community. With gratitude and longing I extend my branches, offering refuge and seeking the warm embrace of connection. The more I learn to receive, the more I am able to experience the gift of giving. To care for myself is to care for others and to care for others is to care for myself.
