Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistant (GA) positions provide students the opportunity to combine theory and practice while offering assistance that includes an hourly wage and/or housing. At approximately 10-20 hours per week (varies by role), these positions allow students to focus on academic coursework while gaining practical experience in the field of student affairs.
These positions are offered for a 9 or 10-month period during the academic year. Positions are reserved for students in the two-year, cohort-based MA in Higher Education Student Affairs Program (HESA). You do not have to be accepted into the HESA program to apply. Please note that a separate cover letter is required for each GA position you are applying for.
On-Campus Graduate Assistantships
Social Change Program Coordinator
Location: College of Arts and Sciences
The Social Change Program Coordinator will be responsible for co-creating and implementing processes and structures related to the functions of the Center that include but are not limited to; leadership development, volunteerism, immersion programs, and alternative break programs. This work will be collaborative, action-oriented, and centered on positive social change. Under the direction of the Center Director, the Social Change Program Coordinator position will coordinate several program development projects to improve and solidify program offerings for students.
Student Engagement/ASB, Graduate Assistant
Location: College of Arts and Sciences
The purpose of the Graduate Assistant (GA) is to support the daily operations of the Student Engagement Office, Associated Student Body (ASB) and the CAS Commencement planning process and implementation. Student Engagement supports roughly 120+ student organizations (e.g., affinity groups, club sports, student media board, general student interests groups, symposia, etc.) in their daily administrative tasks such as completing reimbursement and budget requests, event planning logistics, scheduling venues and performance agreements. The GA will be responsible for supporting the Director of Student Engagement in overseeing daily office administrative tasks and helping to advise the student assistant team. A major responsibility of the GA will be to provide high-level administrative and programmatic support for the College of Arts & Sciences Commencement ceremony and the Peer Collective Leadership program.
Graduate Assistant, Health Promotion & Wellness (2 positions available)
Location: College of Arts and Sciences
The GA will support the mission, vision, and values of the Student Life Division and its expression in promoting lifelong wellness by collaborating and assisting with facilitating programming and evaluation.
Graduate Assistant for Conflict Education & Programming
Location: College of Arts and Science
Develop a broad skill set by working with College students in hands-on professional engagement for the Office of Community Accountability and Conflict Resolution (CACE). This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Student, and the successful applicant will exercise skills that correlate to the Association for Student Conduct Administration’s (ASCA) Eight Knowledge Areas & Skills. By engaging with these foundational knowledge areas, this Graduate Assistant will learn skills related to addressing both individual and communal student behavior and decision-making. Paid hours for this position begin in August 2025.
