Multilingual Culturally Responsible Certificate Program
The Multilingual Culturally Responsible Certificate program is an innovative add-on to the School Psychology degree program coursework. The certificate provides advanced specialized training in culturally responsible and inclusive practices for school psychologists to best serve and support culturally and linguistically diverse students in school settings.

The School Psychology program offers significant scholarship opportunities to candidates interested in pursuing their Multilingual Culturally Responsible Certificate along with their School Psychology EdS degree through grant-funded Project AMPLIFY. Culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.

Certificate Details
- Certificate coursework includes foundations in multilingual education and culturally responsible practices related to assessments, consultation, counseling, and direct intervention.
- The 8-credit certificate program allows students to engage in specialized, high-quality training to enhance awareness, knowledge, and skills related to culturally, linguistically, affirming, and identity inclusive practice while enrolled in the School Psychology program.
- In alignment with Lewis & Clark’s social justice and equity mission, the certificate is designed to improve access and quality of school-based mental health services to culturally and linguistically diverse K-12 students.
- In addition to the didactic coursework, students enroll in a seminar course, receive supervision and case consultation support, and compile a portfolio to showcase their knowledge and skills related to supporting multicultural and multilingual students in schools.
- The certificate curriculum was developed in collaboration with a representative Advisory Board and in alignment with evidence-based pedagogical practices.
- All classes are online, making the certificate accessible for students in both the traditional on-campus track and the hybrid track of the School Psychology program.
- The dual-track certificate has a pathway for multilingual students to demonstrate language proficiency and a pathway for monolingual (English-only) candidates to engage in this important curriculum and pursue a culturally responsible certificate.
