Gender Affirming Programs and Services
The Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling and the Community Counseling Center offer a variety of gender-affirming services and programs tailored for both our transgender and nonbinary clients as well as their families and community members who want to better understand and advocate for the needs of gender diverse children and youth.
Gender-Affirming Education and Mental Health Services
A continuing education program that uniquely prepares participants to better understand and advocate for the needs of gender diverse children and youth — providing the groundwork needed to act as agents for change within educational systems and youth-serving organizations.
TransActive at the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education & Counseling provides professional and community education, capacity building, and empowering mentorship to changemakers and advocates who support gender diverse youth.
The Transcendence Project is built on a rigorous training and supervision model that emphasizes a deep understanding of the diverse and complex experiences of TNB individuals. Our student trainees receive specialized instruction in gender identity, social stigma, family dynamics, and the impact of societal attitudes on mental health and self-esteem. This comprehensive approach ensures that our counselors are equipped to provide affirming and culturally competent care.
Parent and Caregiver Support Groups
These are facilitated groups for adult family members (parents, caregivers, aunts/uncles, siblings, etc.) of transgender, gender expansive, and non-binary children and youth. All groups are facilitated by gender diverse individuals and/or supportive allies.
Please note: Participation in these peer support groups is not therapy, a substitute for therapy, or to be labeled as therapy. Those who are interested in options for counseling and therapy may call the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center at 503-768-6320, or complete an inquiry form.
