About the Oregon Writing Project

For over 30 years, OWP served as a vital resource for teachers across content areas to explore the value of using writing as a means of thinking, exploring, and increasing academic achievement with students.

The Invitational Summer Institute, OWP’s centerpiece offering, provided teachers with time and space to write while examining how to prepare students to:

• Write in all subjects with clarity and style;
• Seek deeper and more critical understanding of writing and the world;
• Wake up their own voice and authority;
• Take command of their own learning;
• Manage portfolios and other exhibition forms.
