Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction Admissions Expectations
The Inservice MEd program is designed for individuals who hold a valid, regular teaching license and want to expand their knowledge in instructional and leadership practices and/or content related to teaching PK-12 students.
Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction Application Requirements
Applications and all supporting materials must be received by the Graduate Admissions Office before the file is submitted to faculty for review.
Applicants to all Teacher Education: Inservice programs are required to an essay. The essay may be single-spaced or double-spaced and is submitted electronically as part of the online application.
In one or two pages, detail your goals for graduate study. What are the key questions or issues that have led you to pursue graduate studies.
We require letters of recommendation from three individuals who know you and are qualified to evaluate your academic competence, character and/or experience in professional or leadership roles. Professors, supervisors, and employers are often the best sources. References from a personal therapist, family members, or friends are not accepted.
NOTE: At least one letter of recommendation must be from a principal or supervisor who has observed your student teaching or licensed teaching within the last five years. If you are unable to obtain such a letter for some reason, please contact the Admissions Office to discuss your options.
All applicants must hold a minimum 2.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), or the equivalent in their undergraduate degree.
Applicants who have an GPA of less than a 2.75 on their undergraduate, degree-posted transcript are required to provide a statement that explains their previous academic record
Applicants must hold a valid regular teaching license. You will be required to answer questions about your license on the online application.
