Professional Administrator License Prerequisites
To be a candidate for the Professional Administrator Program for practicing administrators, you should:
- Applicants must hold a current Oregon Legacy Administrator license or an Oregon Principal license.
- Serve as an administrator in an educational setting.
- Be current in educational trends and research.
- Be able to demonstrate a desire to collaborate with others and be willing to participate in meaningful dialog about your practice and educational principles.
- Applicants must have earned a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States (the college or university must be regionally accredited when enrolled and the degree was conferred) or the foreign equivalent.
Professional Administrator Application Requirements
Admission to the graduate school requires the completion of all standard admissions requirements in addition to the program-specific admission requirements outlined below.
Applicants are required to write an essay approximately 500 words in length. The essay may be submitted electronically as part of the online application.
Please write an essay on the following topics:

Describe why you would like to pursue the professional administrator license program. Please describe your current leadership work and social justice work. Describe how it focuses on transforming schools through equitable practice.
All applicants must hold a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), or the equivalent in their graduate degree.
Applicants who have an GPA of less than a 3.0 on their graduate, degree-posted transcript are required to provide a statement that explains their previous academic record
Applicants must hold a valid regular an Oregon Legacy Administrator license or an Oregon Principal license. Please submit a copy of your current license.
Candidates who did not complete the Preliminary Administrator License program at Lewis & Clark must document passing scores on the ORELA: Civil Rights Test.
NOTE: Candidates who currently hold an Oregon Legacy, Professional, or Principal license (Teaching, or Personnel Services) at the time of application are exempt from submitting official scores from the ORELA: Civil Rights Test.
