Teri began her career teaching 6th grade in San Jose, CA. In 2007, she moved to Portland and taught 2nd and 5th grades at Ardenwald Elementary in North Clackamas School District. In 2005, Teri was awarded the Oak Grove School District’s Vision Award, and in 2006, she was the recipient of the African and Latino Leaders in Equity Development (ALLIED) Award for her work with the Latino Family Literacy Project. Teri was a mentor teacher to four Lewis and Clark candidates before joining the Elementary Ed team.
