What is your ‘why’ for wanting to become a school psychologist?

My ‘why’ is centered around promoting safe and equitable learning environments that consider the whole student, and promote mental health services. I also want to build bridges of trust between families, educators, the school and the student.

Why did you choose the School Psychology program at Lewis & Clark?

I chose Lewis & Clark because of their social justice mission, with emphasis on diversity and inclusion.

What is something that you have done recently at your field placement that you are excited about?

At my field placement, I recently started a 6th grade “lunch bunch” for LGBTQ+ students called “Pride Bunch”. My goal is to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ students to come together and connect. I’m really excited about this group and the opportunity to help build a sense of belonging within school.
