
Jennifer Twyford
Associate Professor of School Psychology, Hybrid Track Co-Director, and Assessment Coordinator
Dr. Jennifer Twyford is an Associate Professor in the School Psychology program with almost 20 years of experience in the field. Dr. Twyford serves the program as the Co-Director of the Hybrid Track and the Assessment Coordinator. She earned a combined PhD in Clinical, Community, and School Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her EdS and MS degrees in Educational Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Dr. Twyford is licensed in two states (Oregon and California) as both a Licensed Psychologist and school psychologist, and as well as being a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). She serves on the Board of Directors for the Oregon School Psychological Association (OSPA), serves on the editorial board of several school psychology journals, and maintains a small private practice.
At the 2024 National Association of School Psychology Convention, she received an award for a co-authored paper on intersectionality that received an honorable mention as the most important paper in the School Psychology Review in 2023. She is currently the lead co-editor for a new book, Culturally Informed Approaches for Educational and Behavioral Assessment of Youth, which will be published next year.
Her professional interests include addressing the shortages of school psychologists, graduate education in school psychology, culturally responsible practices, and system responses to youth mental health services. As a Co-PI, Dr. Twyford was recently awarded a 5-year, $1.1m grant to support the training of multilingual and culturally responsible school psychologists.
