The occurrence of hate crimes and hate-related incidents are on the rise, and those with marginalized identities are most often the targets. Hate incidents can include experiences of micro-aggressions, bullying, threats of violence, aggression, discrimination, and acts of violence.
We are pleased to announce four upcoming trainings supported by Portland United Against Hate taking place this May and June: Trauma-Informed Hate Response, tailored to those working in nonprofit organizations, community agencies, education or neighborhood organizations; and Disrupting Hate, appropriate for those in mental health professions.

Who Have Been a Target of Hate
Participants in this training will learn the importance of a trauma-informed perspective integrated within a multicultural and social justice framework, ways to connect a person with local services and resources, and more.

Disrupting Hate: A Mental Health Providers Guide to Helping Clients
Who Have Experienced Hate Incidents
It is possible that many clients may have experienced instances of hate, but may not disclose these experiences in counseling—especially if their provider does not know how to assess and address these concerns. Furthermore, there are few resources available to aid practitioners in how to best provide these services. This workshop will train mental health providers in the Clinical Hate Response Model developed by the presenters.
