Job Search Timeline for Licensed PK-12 Positions
Educator Job Search Suggested Timeline and Checklist
Active hiring for PK-12 licensed or certificated positions that start the following August/September typically begins in January with searches for administrator, school counselor, school psychology, special education, and other hard-to-fill positions.
Teaching positions typically begin to post in February at the earliest with the majority of positions appearing from March through mid-September. (While some hiring of teachers happens in spring, a large number of positions are filled from late-July through mid-September.)
Searches for licensed or certificated international positions typically are conducted via specialty educator recruiting fairs held in January and February. Detailed information on these searches is available here.
Gratitude, the Overarching Theme
As you move through the job search process, remember to express gratitude—notes of thanks—to those who assist you in the job search process. Your taking the time to share your thanks will be positively remembered by those in positions to hire.

If you have a ring-back tone, choose one that you feel is reflective of yourself as an educator entering the profession. |
