Albertina Kerr has a range of programs for children with developmental disabilities and their families (intense psychiatric, foster care training/support, early intervention and community-based outpatient services).
Alzheimer’s Association Our volunteers are passionate and inspired, and they want to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Whether you can spare a couple of hours a week or make a more significant time commitment, we hope you will consider joining this very special community. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides volunteers with the opportunity to build one-on-one relationships with local youth.
Bradley Angle offers support to domestic and sexual violence survivors. Volunteers can participate in direct-service by working side-by-side with participants or indirect-service by supporting the mission of Bradley Angle behind the scenes. Both types of volunteers have opportunities to help in a variety of areas including event planning, marketing, and life training.
CASA for Children volunteers investigate, advocate, facilitate and monitor on behalf of a child living in foster care (Multnomah and Washington counties). Prospective volunteers attend an orientation and receive training.
The Dougy Center National Center for Grieving Children and Families. Volunteer Grief Facilitators facilitate children, teens & adult support groups after completion of their training program.
DrugRehab.com is a web resource provided and funded by Advanced Recovery Systems (ARS). ARS is an integrated behavioral health care management organization dedicated to the treatment of addiction, substance abuse, eating disorders and mental health issues. We provide well-researched, fact-based resources on this site.
Hands on Greater Portland connects volunteers with opportunities to serve the community in various capacities including feeding the hungry, teaching children, housing the homeless and restoring the environment.
Innovative Services Northwest provide excellent opportunities in working with diverse populations including children as well as adults in their adult day heath care center. They are looking for volunteers in Case aid, supervised visits, Adult day heath center, and child care. Innovative is in desperate need especially as we go into summer months and children are no longer in school. They are offering paid internships as well as flexible employment that works great with a student schedule.

Lines for Life exists to end substance abuse and suicide. Volunteers assist with several crisis lines: NSPL (National Suicide Prevention Lifeline), Oregon Drug and Alcohol Helpline, Veterans Crisis Line, Military Helpline and Oregon Youthline. Morrison Child and Family Services offers a range of opportunities for volunteers, including mentoring youth (age12-17), facilitating children’s groups, providing childcare while family members are in groups, and transporting at-risk youth (age 5-17) to/from appointments.
Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence provides technical assistance, training and education to local community centers that work with survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Volunteers work with OCADSV to support the programs.
Portland Homeless Family Solutions volunteers work with homeless families at Goose Hollow Family Shelter (night shelter) or Thirteen Salmon Family Center (day shelter).
Quest Center for Integrative Health seeks volunteers for childcare activities when mothers are participating in WOW (Women of Wisdom) groups for women living with HIV.
Raphael House offers a range of services to support families fleeing domestic violence, including an emergency shelter, advocacy center, youth program, transitional housing program, community education and outreach.
Southwest Medical Center (Vancouver, WA) has volunteer opportunities available in nearly every department, including the Cancer Center and Hospice care. Volunteers must first attend training.
TransActive volunteers work in different areas to support, educate and advocate for transgender and gender non-conforming children and youth. Trainings take place quarterly, however applications are always accepted.
Volunteers of America offer diverse programs to help individuals, families and communities, including an Adult Care Center, Family Recovery Support Program, Family Relief Nursery, Home Free (services for families living with or escaping domestic violence), InAct (substance abuse, gambling, mental health, wellness services) and Men’s Residence.
