CAEP Accreditation Call for Third Party Comments

The Lewis & Clark College Graduate School of Education and Counseling is hosting an accreditation visit by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) on April 13-15, 2026. Interested parties are invited to submit third-party comments to the evaluation team. Please note that comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of professional education programs offered, and should specify the party’s relationship to the provider (i.e., graduate, present or former faculty member, employer of graduates).

We invite you to submit written testimony to:

CAEP
1140 19th Street NW, Suite 400
Washington, DC 20036

Or by email to: callforcomments@caepnet.org

Such comments must be within the specified period and based on the core tenets of CAEP accreditation standards of excellence, which recognize that:

  • In CAEP’s performance-based system, accreditation is based on evidence that demonstrates that teacher candidates know the subject matter and can teach it effectively so that students learn. In the CAEP system, EPPs must prove that candidates can connect theory to practice and be effective in an actual P-12 classroom
  • A professional education provider that is accredited by CAEP is expected to be involved in ongoing planning and evaluation; engaged in continuous assessment and development; ensure that faculty and programs reflect new knowledge, practice, and technologies; and be involved in continuous development in response to the evolving world of education and educational reform.
  • Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of professional education programs offered, and should specify the respondent’s relationship, if any, to the institution (i.e., graduate, present or former faculty member, employer of graduates). Copies of all correspondence received will be sent to the university for comment prior to the review.

CAEP Annual Accountability Measures

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)  Accountability Measures are used to provide information to the public on both program outcomes and program impact. Annual updates to these data are made at the beginning of the summer term (after the close of the previous AY). Our focus continues to be on identifying measures that are meaningful for program improvement.
Measure 1 (Initial): Completer effectiveness (R4.1)

Data must address: (a) completer impact in contributing to P-12 student-learning growth AND (b) completer effectiveness in applying professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions.

Measure 2 (Initial and Advanced): Satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement. (R4.2|R5.3|RA4.1)
Measure 3 (Initial and Advanced): Candidate competency at completion. (R3.3|RA3.4)

These data reflect the ability of our candidates to meet licensing and state requirements and additional measures we use to determine candidate competency at program completion.

Licensure rates for initial programs and cohort-based advanced programs are provided below. Please note that candidates can be program finishers (completed all coursework successfully) but not “completers” if they have not yet passed a required exam or completed the paperwork to be recommended for a license.

Licensure Rates

Exam Scores

Graduation Rates

Graduation rates provided for degree-granting programs at the initial and advanced levels.

Title II Reports (previous three years)

Measure 4 (Initial and Advanced): Ability of completers to be hired (in positions for which they have prepared.)

These data were complied from our internal surveys of graduate employment, our out-of-state licensure and alumni employment records, and data provided by the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission:

  • Employment Data for 2022-23 AY Initial Program Completers*
We found that 81% of our Secondary completers and 100% of our Elementary-Multiple Subjects completers recommended for licensure in this AY have employment in the field for which they were trained.

  • Employment Data for 2022-23 AY Advanced Program Completers*

*Note: 2022-23 Completer employment data is the most up to data we can provide in our 2024-25 reporting measures. We expect to have a complete set of employment data for our 23-24 graduates in spring, 2026.
